Thong Tapan is a friendly, family-run resort on the quieter northern end of Thong Nai Pan Noi beach. It is the only locally owned place on Thong Nai Pan No beach. They've been in business since 1984 and have built up a loyal group of returning guests.

Most of the 30 bungalows and villas at Thong Tapan are behind the reception area on a hill. The beautiful landscaping and generous space between the bungalows give the place a secluded feel. The bungalow prices vary according to the bungalow`s proximity to the beach and the facilities in the bungalow. There are traditional wooden fan bungalows as well as more luxurious bungalows with air-con and hot water. The more expensive bungalows had a re-fit a few years ago and have simple but stylish interiors.

There are a few deluxe bungalows with satellite TVs, hot water and fridges. There is also a 2 bedroom villa which is excellent value for families. All room rates include free wi-fi access.

Sadly the popular Krua Tapan Restaurant is closed at the moment. Guests staying at Thong Tapan Resort use the Tapan Noi restaurant next door that is open all day and serves a wide selection of Thai and Western dishes. The Tapan Noi restaurant also has a popular BBQ in the evening.

Another recent change to the Thong Tapan set-up is the addition of Tropical Dive Club. The colorful little wooden building on the beach that was the sarong shop was taken over by Tropical Dive Club. This long-standing dive school has been struggling of late and has now been taken over by Thong Tapan. Let's hope this revives their fortunes.

The family who owns Thong Tapan also run the budget bungalow outfit next door called Tapan Noi. The two businesses are often confused or considered to be one and the same. More so now they share the same restaurant.

Thong Tapan is no longer a cheap option for Thong Nai Pan Noi but it remains one of the best in terms of hospitality and setting. They still proundly hold on to their stretch of beach, stemming the tide of Rasananda expensive chic.
