Star Huts was once a haven for backpackers. It was a beachfront bungalow operation offering fan and air-con bungalows at reasonable prices. It also had a popular restaurant on the beach that had a happy hour every evening.

Lots of people are still shocked to discover that Star Huts was torn down in 2011 and replaced with a 4 star hotel. It is a shame but the core staff from the former Star Huts have started a new business. It is located on the small lane that forks off from the main village road at Handsome Sandwich.

The new place is a restaurant that has a similar menu to the old Star Huts. They do a good selection of popular Thai dishes such as Phad Thai, pork fried rice and noodle soup. They also do good sandwiches, burgers and fries and other Western food.

It isn't gourmet food, but it is good for what it is. Moreover, you can be sure of good service when you go to Star Huts, and the food is usually served up fairly quickly.

Star Huts also offer wifi. Sit, the manager of the restaurant is good with computers and can help you get a wifi connection if you are having a problem.

The new Star Huts has got a good location at the head of the village. It is a pleasant place to pass an hour or so in the afternoon.
